Central Illinois Jazz Society was born in the late 1970s when over 200 people gathered for an outdoor jazz concert in a backyard in Peoria. The experience was so well-received that three organizers formed the Central Illinois Jazz Society (CIJS) to keep the performances going.
The Charter for the CIJS was composed in September 1978 and the first concert officially presented by CIJS took place on December 1, 1978, at Illinois Central College.
Ever since, CIJS has been sponsoring monthly concerts, summer concert series, jazz festivals and more in the Central Illinois area with the goal of promoting and supporting our region's incredibly talented jazz musicians.
CIJS welcomes and appreciates any support you would like to provide to help further our mission with your time, resources or input. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, contributions to CIJS are tax-deductible.
Concert sponsorship is also possible via our Events page.
