Attention Middle and High School Students:

Are you looking to improve your improv skills? Then this workshop is for you! Join Dr. Todd Kelly of Bradley University and other local jazz experts for a deep dive into improvisation. After an instructional session, Dr. Kelly will facilitate a jam session with students and a small jazz ensemble of local professional musicians featuring Mark DeZwaan, piano; Brandon Mooberry, bass; and Jeremy Clark, drums.

All area middle and high school students are invited to attend free of charge. This is the first of three workshops presented by the Central Illinois Jazz Society. Dates for the second and third workshops will be announced later this year.

“We are excited to create a safe and supportive environment for students to learn the art of jazz improvisation. Peoria has a long tradition of nurturing young jazz talent, and we are happy to be a part of that tradition.”
