Attention Middle and High School Students:

Are you looking to improve your improv skills? Then this workshop is for you! Join Dr. Reggie Lewis of Illinois Wesleyan University and other local jazz experts for a deep dive into improvisation. After an instructional session, Dr. Lewis will facilitate a jam session with students and a small jazz ensemble of local professional musicians featuring Mark DeZwaan, piano; Brandon Mooberry, bass; and Jeremy Clark, drums.

All area middle and high school students are invited to attend free of charge. This is the second of three workshops presented by the Central Illinois Jazz Society. A date for the third workshop will be announced later this year.

“Music has the unique power to bring us together, uniting us through rhythm, melody, and harmony. To keep our community thriving and inspiring the next generation of musicians, we must share our knowledge and passion for the music with them. So keep the music alive, and remember to keep on swingin’!”

Dr. Reggie Lewis, DMA
