It’s the best of both worlds when Latin meets jazz! Led by drumset artist and percussionist Craig Russo, the Craig Russo Latin Jazz Project blends outstanding jazz musicians, rich Afro-Cuban rhythms, and unique arrangements of familiar jazz standards into a fresh, engaging sound. Steeped in the traditions of American jazz and deeply influenced by the music of Latin America, especially Cuba, Craig’s artistry brings a vibrant, rhythmic energy to every performance.

Craig has traveled extensively to Cuba, studying at the prestigious National School of Arts in Havana and touring with the all-star Midwest Cuban music group Charanga Tropical, the first American group invited to perform at Cuba’s International Festival of Danzon. He has also performed with Grammy-winning Cuban salsa artist Mayito Rivera and Tito Puente Jr. at festivals throughout the Midwest.

Joining Craig are Adrian Russo on piano, Max Beckman on bass, Jeff Magby on drums and congas, and Chip McNeill on saxophone. Together, they bring the warmth, rhythm, and spirit of Latin America to a repertoire rooted in the timeless sounds of jazz.
